Finesse to me is 10lb line. Would be used for drop shot, shakey head, split shot rig.
I really dislike fishing with spinning tackle. My casting accuracy is terrible.
What would be the disadvantages to ditching the spinning tackle all together?

The only problem I have run into is line related. Thin diameter line likes to get up under the spool on a bait caster. 12# isn't bad, but 8 # will drive you crazy!
Roll cast, or underhand cast with a spinning rod.

I've tried everything. I just don't use them enough to get proficient at it.

Harder to get a perfectly verticle drop other than that baitcaster wins in every way.

I think you'll be missing opportunities to catch alot of fish. 10lb line/baitcaster is a great set up. I use it with a Loomis shakey baitcast rod for light jigs/bigger shakey worms. The spinning reel comes in when you use 6-8lb line. You can manage the line way easier as Skeeter said. Also you can't beat the control of vertical drops with the spinning setup. Don't be nervous about 6lb line, thats what your drag system is for. Good luck.

once you master pitchin, flippin and skipping with a quality spinning reel you will be able to put a bait where a baitcaster cant...

I bought a Shimano Curado 50 and had a custom rod built. It is 7' and light action filled with 10# and LOVE it! I use it for white bass fishing, bass fishing, and some saltwater trout fishing. I don't really use my spinning rods unless I am saltwater fishing.

I have used both set ups but always go back with the spinning reel set up.

I'm trying a Core 50/Dobyns 703/Invizx 10-12 setup right now, may go to 702. Works pretty good, but I have had more problems with backlashing mainly because of the light baits on it.

The part of the brain it takes to cast light rigs with a baitcaster is missing from my head. Anytime I go really light I have to use a spinning reel. I grew up fishing with them so I don't mind them.
I have a Largemouth at home....sometimes she lets me go fishing.

For light line a quality spinning set up is best. The rod choice is a big deal. If it is not paired up right with your lure weight and line weight it will hurt casting and how.you can move your bait.

I fished the Media Fork Division for two years with Bill Sweeten who is a very talented angler. I always used spinning reel and 10lb flouro. Bill always used baitcast and 15lb flouro. Bill would average 3 to 4 bites to my one using heavier equipment, but he also got front water. But more importantly he was more confident in dropping that bait right next to the standing timber with a baitcaster.
Spinning has always been my preferance but with the new FLW EverStart rule restricting co-anglers to 5 rod and reels I had to make a decision this past week and went with my baitcaster for dropshot rigged with 15lb flouro. I landed my biggest bass of the tournament off of it a solid 6 pounder right under the boat. I used a Reel Time Rod Model MB842 7' with 15lb Seaguar InvisX in the crystal clear waters of Lake Amistad. Use what your confident with and you will be successful.

I use spinning reels with 12# P-line CX Premium (flouro-coated copolymer)every time out. I also use KVD line conditioner. Just don't have any problems and can catch most of my fish on this rig.
In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.

I use a Lew's BB1NG with 10 lb or 8 lb mono for finesse lures. No issues.
