Got back late last night after spending a couple of beautiful days on the water with Jay. Considering all of the negative reports, we had two good days with a total of 35 fish with an 8 and three 7's for kickers. No giants but considering we talked to some people that had been there for 5 days and yet to get a bite, we did great.

I managed to get my hands on some 10XD's before leaving town and it accounted for the 8 and one of the 7's we caught. That thing is a beast. I was using 20# line and hung up on the bottom in 15', Jay used 10# and hung on the bottom in 25'. However, you better have the right gear to throw and crank it in. I used a 7'11" swimbait rod and it was perfect. My Shimano Corvalus completely locked up yesterday after 2 days of chunking and winding the 10XD. The hooks on the bait are stought...check out Jay's blog for the DD rock I hooked and pulled up out of 10' of water. The wife has given me permission to have that DD mounted, unfortunately we didn't get measurements before releasing her. frown

We never went shallow but some people started saying they caught some bucks up shallow. The key, as always on Falcon, was rock and patience. If you knew you were in a good area, you had to sit on it and grind. The fish would come in little flurries as they moved on/off to feed.

Here is a link to Jay's blog and pictures, thanks again Bro for a good time on the water.

Looks like a lot of fun. I got to meet Jay at the State Park boat ramp the last weekend of last year enjoyed talking to him. If I decide to try a guided trip it will be with him.

I have trip scheduled with Jay on the 5th. Reports are getting better and looks like the weather should be about right. Thanks for the report. I got a bad case of falcon fever and keeps getting worse as the days slowly, slowly, slowly get closer! Lol
