How many of you have a Double bench seat in the front of your boat? I have heard about them and Im curious to hear the pros/cons of them. I was thinking the other day while I was trolling from brush pile to brush pile itd be convenient to switch seats and fish opposite sides or even let my buddy fish beside me on windy days when the back of the boat is lagging behind.

I have an Add a Seat and my wife and I love it. Either of us can run the trolling motor and we both can fish upfront on small piles or timber or bridge columns.

Wife and I have one and love it. Just like Bobcat 1 said. The only disadvantage I can see is crawling over the thing. Caution needed to keep from swimming with the fish. I usually come around from the side rather than over, but depending on your boat set up will determine how you have to get there.

I have a 20' foot Sea Ark that is pretty spacious. I know I will have to do some measuring but thank you for your comments on what you have and how you like it!

Matthew I like that one but my boat is not as deep so I'm not sure how good it would work with my boat.

Personally, I hate the frames. Crawling over them is a pain and like mentioned before, you need to move with great caution to keep from going for a swim. I helped a friend recarpet his boat and we took the opportunity to reconfigure the front deck. We added seat bases so you could use 1 seat or 2. That was better as there was no obstruction between the seats.
However... I prefer fishing the front deck alone. When I have someone in the backseat I am very considerate to position the boat so we both have a target.

Buy a Lund 18' Crappie Edition, it already has two pedistal mounts up in the bow and plenty of room to move between 'em.

Our custom frame does not require climbing over. If you can sit in a chair without falling out. You will be able to sit down in seat facing back of boat, spin the seat around, and you will be facing the front. We can build rod holders, Umbella holder, have a bouy hold on mine, just about anything you want added.
Our custom frames use the full width if the deck, and allow all doors to you storage compartment to open. Leave plenty of room between seats for both fisherman on our custom frames. Comes with frame and swivel.
We fish several CAT Tournaments, and when you are sitting in a quality seat, it make staying and fishing much better. Those little plastic seats will have your butt numb in a couple hours. With out frames you provide your own seats, so you can have the type of cushioned seat you would like.
Fishing 2 fishermen out the front of the boat is NO contest to fishing 1 in the front and 1 in back. Most boats are 16' - 21', so it take a huge brush pile to keep both fisherman over a pile. With the double seat, bout fishermen are exactly over the brush pile, and in the strike Zone. Either person can work trolling motor, and both can see fish finder. Can't really keep back seat in the Strike Zone very well. For crappie fishing with 2, the 2 Seat Set Up is the ticket.
I'll try to post a PIC or two of a couple of Seat Frames we have built when I get home tonight.

Willie I have mine on the deck of a 22" cc. The deck should be simular to yours. I do not worry about what it looks like, it is the functionality of it that is most important. I made a bracket that pins into the existing seat base, so it is removable by just lifting out. It is also adjustable forwards and backwards so you can get it positioned exactly where you want it. If you are realy wanting to fish two out of the front it is the best, and most comfortable way to go and you can adjust to the rest of the issues.

I have a 17 1/2 foot Sea Ark and have Dual Seat up front and love it fort the wife and I. I will take a pic. The one that I have can be taken out when traveling or if i fish alone and is also adjustable. I have a buddy that put 2 bases in the front of his boat so we could both fish up front and it was very cool. Both can run the trolling motor and both can see the same thing on the fishfinder and fish the brushpile the same.
