Taking my family to galveston for the first time. Will be staying for a week during june at a beach house in Sea Isle.
I do have four big surf rods that I use for catfishing. I imagine most fishing will be done for the beach but Sea Isle does have a pier I can use. Im also wanting to catch some crab for a crab boil one night.
Any suggestions on what would be running during June or other reccomendations that would help us out?
Are hoop nets legal to use fishing for crab off the pier? I know you cant use them in freshwater.
Is flounder gigging something that can be done along the beach?

I took the family out to galveston this past summer. We did a lot of surf fishing because it cost an arm and a leg to fish the piers in galveston. We tried a bunch of different baits but had the best fishing using ghost shrimp(caught with one of those pumps). With the ghost shrimp we caught good size whiting, croaker, redfish, and black drum. None of the redfish were keeper size but we were able to keep a few of the drum. I don't know were they actually sell the pumps, I got mine from a guy visiting from Indiana.
Life is a beach, i'm just playing in the sand.

When it comes to summer, the best times for me have always been dusk until dawn.

Is flounder gigging something that can be done along the beach? PM me a few weeks before you head down and we can set up to meet in the surf. You can use crab nets legally but need to attend them. You can also crab in the surf, trotline style. The pier would be good for night fishing. I always do best fishing the incoming tide in the morning.

back2fishing- Thanks for the offer! Will get with you before we head down there.
I plan on bringing a couple crab nets/traps with us.
As for flounder gigging, We are close to san luis pass and can swing around to the bay side of the island there, would that be a decent place to try?
