Hey Guys, first off I am not trying to plug my business. I am posting pictures of this rod because this rod was a cool opportunity for me.

I am a part of the Amarillo Fly Guys, a chapter of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing. A new Veteran joined the club a couple of weeks ago and got ADDICTED to fly fishing and tying. He asked me to build this rod to represent his service. The red stripes above the grip are Blood Stripes, worn on the pants of a Marine's formal uniform. The size of the stripes dictates the ranking of the Marine, something I did not know about. I had to make sure they were the exact width. This was a fun build because this rod means something to him.

Very nice work. I recently started building myself and I can confess that there is something special about building fly rods. I am still a rookie but learn something new after each build. My problem is that I cannot help but to put a butt wrap on my fly rods. I kind of like them although I know that it goes against the norm. To each his own. Thats the great thing about custom rod building.

If I could I would like to suggest to the moderators or site administration that they create a rod building section on the forum. I think that it would be popular and a great place for builders on this site to exchange ideas and pics.

Very cool rod. I like the grip look also. I wish him many memories wielding your handiwork!

Yeah I hear you, I think a rod building section would be great. It would be a great place to ask questions, post pictures, and a good market place. I understand your pain on a building a fly rod without a butt wrap, I personally don't like plain jane. If you have never seen the 'rod skinz' from mudhole you should check them out. It's a great way to dress up a rod with minimal added weight.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

Very cool!

I tend to over think fishing. Please help me.
When I am over complicating something please kick me in the face. Hard.
