I'm looking at getting a flipping stick but haven't found one that isn't majorly tipheavy. I know its a long rod but shouldn't it be balanced out? Anyone tried the new GLX rods?

Most flipping sticks by design are tip heavy.
Add a rod balanceer kit.

One you build and fish with your own hand built custom rod you will fish with nothing else!

The GLX's are nice but over priced IMO. You can either extend the handle out to balance them (takes away from the working length of the rod and you lose performance) or you can add weight to the butt of the rod. This is a better way of balancing as it will add overall weight to the rod yet feel a little better. OR, just learn to deal with a rod that is a little tip heavy. For the pro's they are in prime fishing shape, that little bit of tip weight if preferred to loosing rod performance.

I can't stand tip heavy rods. When I pick a rod up try to balance a little above the reel seat(without a reel on it). When I build rods I weight just about everyone of them in the butt, no matter the length.

A light rod that is unbalanced feels a lot heavier than a heavy rod that is balanced. just my 2 cents

bass pro sells a weighted butt cap that you can add to the rod

Usually I use a heavier reel on tip heavy flipping sticks. Adding a balancing kit like stated will work as well.

If you are Pitching,GLX 783c M/H Fast. Feels like a feather because of the balance. Check it out.

I use the NRX 893C JWR for pitching lighter lures. If they'd come out with a 7'5 H or ex H in the NRX line I'd have it all set.

Different strokes. That's waaay too long for me to Roll Cast and I prefer a Fast action to the extra fast. Fortunately, price wise,I prefer the GLX mbrs to the NRX rods.

I agree on the roll casting. I pitch with it though. I can put a pitch just about anywhere someone could roll cast. Now my buddy who doesn't pitch at all would hate it, he roll casts.
