My fishing partner and I fish for the Baylor bass fishing team and are fishing Lake Amistad next weekend in a tournament.

I have never fished this lake before and am going in blind. The lake is 6 hours away from Waco so I don't want to get skunked! Does anyone have any advice they could pass along to us?

Possibly a PM with some info on where to go?

The lake is so big I don't want to spend my whole morning running and gunning and never wetting a line.

Any info you could give us would be greatly appreciated!

Huh didn't think of that, I will have to look it up. I always thought it was just not allowed to fish with a guide when you pre fish or to get way points from someone. I will check that out.

EDIT: I looked it up, and we are allowed to ask for info as long as it is on a public site or social media site. Basically not buying or bartering of info from guides or pros is how I interpret it.

And here is a map of the off limits

The fish are good on the main lake points throwing crawfish crankbaits, jerkbaits and shakey heads. They are starting to move a little but the frequent cold snaps keep pushing them back. I was there last week and out on the main lake is where we did our best. Unfortunately we were fishing up river and if I remember correctly the Hwy 90 bridge is your off limits.

There are several good tournaments on Amistad this weekend and lots of TFFers fishing so you may receive more info after Sunday.

No expert here. But with amistad being a clear lake. make sure you have a jerkbait tied on!

I'll be there fishing Everstart. I am also going to use my boat for you guys on Saturday if I do not make the top 10. Good luck to your team on Saturday. The above advice is pretty good.

Lol, more like 5 hours....it took me 6.5 hours from Grapevine. I will be more than happy to help if I can. If I don't make the top ten on Saturday, I will be a boat captain for the college tourney. However, I'm a bit partial to SFA! smile

Yea, it should be fun. If you guys want to get together for dinner or just to talk about the day, let me know. I'll be on the water in my Silver/Red Z7 so look for me. Or call anytime.
