Im going to be fishing a small 10 acre conservation lake this weekend that i usually only fish in the spring when the crappie spawn. What tactics should i use for winter fishing. There is a small creek in the back of the lake that does not flow and other than that there is not alot of structure on the lake. They usually bite white jigs in the spring and wont touch any other color. Any advice for cold weather tactics would be appreciated.

Might ought to carry you some minnows just in case. However, small ponds like that usually produce heavily in the colder weather. Fish act different in smaller bodies of water so I'd start out trying what you do in the spring....then just move out deeper if that isn't working. It'll be hit and miss but at least you'll be the only boat out there. Last time I fished a pond like that in the winter, me and a buddy caught 74 crappie and about 10 bass but we had to go to rooster tails to do it....most of the crappie were right around 10 inches, biggest bass went 6.3 lbs.

fish a very small road runner with a twin tail plastic body very slow deepest water you can get to ......minnows would also be on the list of possibles i am thinkin
have not been to my small spot in 2 months but they were sluggish once the water chilled in november
average pond depth can dictate alot .....
so if its not real deep water ....it may warm very quickly after a week of sunny days with warm temps. and change everything there
fish very very slow and dont expect hard hits .....
good luck to you
