Where do you buy one for $199.00 ?

Lew's new reels are made by pure fishing, take it apart & compare it to a garcia repo that is taken apart...you won't be able to tell the difference. Pure fishing makes Garcia, Lew's, Plfueger, Pinnacle, Bass Pro, H2O, ect...you can get parts for Lew's reels.

They are good reels I have a few and think they are a great product. I don't care to keep reels for 15 years so I am not factoring that in if I get 8 years out of one I am happy. I always want something new and can't quit buying the new things that come out.

Dump it. In fact I'll save you the trouble and take it off your hands.

Been using Lew's Reels for 20 years. They are great reels.
I have several of the originals before they went to Browning, and Shag was halking them. They use to make a killer rod as well, but they had a fire at the factory back in the 80s and never rebuilt.

Well, the reel is not what I expected.

Now when I cast it ... it squeals.

It now only casts well within the "junk reel" range.

I guess the factory lube job has failed.

I hope mine never starts that ..... had a Quantum smoke that squealed when I cast it, I hated it.

None of my lews tournament pros squeal ....ive had one for a while and its still like new.....
I dont take them apart and jack with either or let them ride out in open down the road....

I have only used it three times so maybe it's just breaking in.

I am going to use it again this week and see what happens.

If it does it again I will have to take it apart.

Have the same reel and love it. Sorry to hear you are having bad luck with it.

It's clearly a lubrication issue.

I was hoping one of the "reel guys" would chime in and give me a price on a upgrade that would fix this problem and improve the casting distance.

i bought a Lew's MG yesterday at Cabelas. i had a curado in my cart and the guy behind the counter told me that the new curados are junk. cheaply made now and just trying to make more profit with cheap parts. he said the best right now are the Lew's in his opinion. said they are not a big name brand, but they are top of the line right now. he said he just couldn't let someone walk out with a new curado knowing they made a bad decision. he saved me $30 also, and hopefully a lot of trouble in the future.

Lews Tourney Pro 7.1:1 will be my next reel after I replace the curado E7 I lost at falcon.

I read great things about the Lew's TP.

I used mine again and this time I used a little oil before heading out and the squeal went away.
