I see pix of setups with the camera mounted on a pole behind your shoulder, how do you operate it?

Interested in this aswell. I know there are apps for cameras that can be used to operate the cam from your phone. I like the drift because it comes with a watch style operation...

Some have remotes, but most a rolling video the whole time.

Some of mine have remotes but they are all mounted on YakAttack camera holders. They allow the camera to either spin around to access the camera easily, or allow the camera to lean over right to you to turn on and off.

I bolted a mount to the bill of a hat. then the camera is close to change batteries/mem cards. I always run it. when something interesting happens as soon as that event is over I stop filming for a second. That puts a gap in the track so in editing Its easy to find the interesting events.

For the mounts several of us use you can check here: PanFish Portrait

and here: PanFish Pole

From what I understand if you get the GoPro3 Black you can see your angles and playback on your phone as well as have a remote to start and stop.

I used a small mount in front of me for my latest video:

I used a Panfish mount from HOOK1 attached to a Scotty gear head extender to shoot this video from earlier in the month:

I made mine from pvc and it fits nicely in a Scotty mount and it adjusts to whatever angle I want. The Panfish is awesome, but I lack the dinero for it.

I have a GoPro Hero which comes with various attachments. I use the head mount which comes with straps and with the right tilt forward will show the kayak your rod and all the action. Some videos that I have seen are very frustrating when the camera is mounted on a pole the view is only forward so if the fish is played on the side you miss all the action. With the head mount you film where you are looking. I have a remote that fits on my wrist so it is easy to start and stop recording. As mentioned above I also film in segments so the editing is made that much easier.

I didn't realize all these fish pix were pulled from a video. I don't think i could carry enough batteries to leave camera run all the time,it's a looonggg time between fish for me!!
