Hey guys I know I am preaching to the choir on this subject, but I think its a good reminder for all of us fisherman.

I went duck hunting the other day and there was a dead duck on the bank. He was all wrapped up in fishing line, bad way to die and a waste. Do everything you can to recover your fishing line and throw it away.

I periodically pull the prop off my trolling motor to check for line wrapped around the shaft and 9 times out of ten there's some in there. Hell even found about 100 yards of the stuff wrapped around my trucks front axle once.

I hate litterers!

I waded waist deep in cold water last spring to rescue a turtle that was attached to a tree limb in the water by fishing line.

I've cut loose all manner of wildlife, tangled up in fishing line. Also those ringed beer packages. A lot of line is lost legitimatly by people trolling and so on. Even when disposing of line in the trash. I cut it up into 1 inch lengths. I suppose you really should recycle it. Litter is a terrible, and dangerous thing.

Low water in parts of the state is exposing the magnitude of the line problem in our lakes. Its everywhere and a hazard to wildlife and equipment alike. Check you props often.

That's why I keep a trash bag(s) in my boat. I hate litter of any kind. Purposely drop a can or bottle over the side and you will not be asked to fish in my boat again.

I have a plastic rubbing alky bottle with an X cut in the face side and all line trimmings go in it with a pair of needlenose pliers stuck in it to anchor it in the bottom of the boat so it doesn't fly out.

I have a small built in cooler at the beginning of the casting deck...between the consoles ( like alot of boats ), put a shopping bag from Wally World in it...now, its a waste recepticle! Fishing line eats up seals on lower units!!

I totally agree but you say "your preaching to the choir" but the fact is that it's not jet skiers or pleasure boaters trashing fishing line in the lakes....I hate to say it.. But it's fisherman..

I have to pull line out of my prop just about every week and I promise you it's not me putting it in the water...so lets not think that "fisherman" aren't the problem...cuz they/we are

Yup...we have to give up one cast to put that line in the trash...not the water.

Cigarette butts are my huge gripe. In the water, at the ramp, on the camp grounds. Alot of smokers dont see cigarette butts thrown out on the ground or in the water as littering but it sure is.

Good topic, more people need to be aware of these kind of things.
