The pigs will be there long after the fish have returned to the lake!

We went fishing last Saturday at Newmans Bottom and its was open then. Keep in mind they may have Trailway restrictions this week for Youth hunts. May want to check with Nails Creek State Park for closures. I think it ends Thursday but not sure.

Y'all might want to call ahead for park closures. This is from the Nails Creek State Park website.

"-The entire Park and Trailway will be closed from Monday, January 14, at 5 p.m., until 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 17."

Generally when they have the youth hunts going on they don't want you anywhere near the Somerville Trailway, which includes Newman's Bottom and Nails Creek. Cedar Creek may not be affected, but to be on the safe side I would give the park a call.

It was a adult hog hunt they had going on until today. We were at the youth hunt for deer and hogs a couple of weeks ago.

The hog hunts they had scheduled for the trailway and Nails Creek Park were cancelled. The gate to Newmans Bottom is open and should remain open for the foreseeable future.

Nails Creek should be fish-able as is Cedar but neither creek will have much running water to bring up the whitebass. The Yegua has good current and if there are whitebass to be caught it should be in the deeper parts from Newmans Bottom on down to the lake.

If all goes as planned I'll be kayaking up the Yegua Thursday morning looking for crappie and whites. I'll report back my findings.

It's too bad we missed out on the rain last weekend. A good rain would have put water in the smaller creeks with the ground being so wet from the previous storms.
