I would like to here some opinions of why a Lakes can go from the best in the country to super tough to catch fish?
I know when lakes are real low most of the bass tend to become suspended are are tough to catch.

Low water, high water, fishing pressure and meat hunters.

natural causes, as well as human influence. As Fouz perfectly stated above. We play a major role in both the positive, AND negative aspects of our fisheries.
Im SO grateful, for the TPWD and the dedication they have to helping Texas' fisheries remain healthy for many generations.

I think it is probably caused by enviormental factors. (Something happens in the food chain, diseases, etc.) Fayette Lake is a great small lake and is heavily fished, so fishing pressure does not hurt it. An abundance of meat hunters could hurt the bass population, but most meat hunters target other species of fish and pick up an occassional bass.
If we concentrated on the really important stuff in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles

looks like the same guy that asked us what we were doing with our 12lber after we weighed it at LFT. He was shocked we werent taking it home to eat and basically looked at us like we were stupid for releasing it.

Fayette also has a 14-21" slot, and only one fish per day over 21" may be retained. There aren't a ton of fish in the lake over 21", either. At Falcon, folks will keep 5 over 21" every day, at least they used to. Same thing happened to Amistad.

Why what, Billy? The folks keeping big bass?
Low-income areas. Big families. Folks gotta eat. Ego. Greed. Ignorance of fisheries management. Selling filets. You name it.

So you think Falcon has less Bass than when it was Smoken hot in 2011? I don't!
I believe My local Lake still has Millions of Large Bass but it's 10 1/2ft low and you can win a tournament lately with 6 pounds!!!

Billy - Here is a fresh 11+ that was offered for sale for probably $5 bucks. I declined and the fish was thrown on the bottom of the metal floor for fish stew later on in the evening. Bass have no value down there...
