I fished the upper creek area below the spillway yesterday and caught a few dink crappie and a really nice bass. Release was 50cfs which created a nice slow flow. I will be heading back out tomorrow to see what I can do. I am a fan of using roadrunners and switching colors to see what they like. Been doing pretty good on red/chartruse tubes and blue body w/sliver flake twister tail jig pretty much everywhere I go(creeks, ponds, lake) - I will try a few minnows tomorrow so I will let you all know how I do.

I believe he is referring to the Green Belt that flows from Ray Roberts to Lewisville. I like to hike down river closer towards the lake. However, I have to agree the hogs are thick back in there. Yes this is where I am talking about and I'm sure this is where Mckinneycrappiecatcher is talking about.. Went Thursday and it was slow. Saw one guy down there and no 4 leged hogs that day. I will be back out there Sunday and or my other spot off of 380.
Did you see the size of that chicken?!.

Headed back up to the tailwater below Ray Roberts and fishing was rather slow even with minnows. Caught two nice bass and lost one even nicer one on a redhead roadrunner with a white and silver flake tube. Not even a nibble on minnows. Headed over to fish a few ponds around Plano and caught a few crappie on minnows. Fufilling day anyways with nice weather and the old Pro Angler rods in hand.

Does anyone have any info to share on inlet locations that are easier to get to along the north end of RR? This is the first year I have targeted this body of water so I am in the learners seat on this one. Any inputs would be appreciated.

North end end is very tuff with the water low I know of some but the water is so low as in dry to that you would be better to look south of RR. have a look at this old posting take notes on the point of interest as it can be good at times. Also some good map of the creek south of RR. 380 South of RR

Thx for your inputs. I was gonna do a scouting roadtrip today around the north end but I got so wrapped up in map searching until time flew by and it got too late. I live on the east end of the metro so it's a nice little run for me. When I do head back over that way I will concentrate my efforts on fishing the south end creek. I normally fish out of a canoe but a surgical procedure I had to have cut that short. I am thinking about building a small Tender that can accomodate with higher seats. This should be fun.

have you thought of white rock creek? It is closer to you and should be a little more productive with the water levels the way they are currently..

JJ, when you say "hike down to the first big bend" are you talking about hiking down from 380 to LL or from Ray Roberts? Thanks,

22lb chinook salmon caught off of Vancouver Island BC. I used to live in Seattle & still go up nearly every fall to fish the rivers for Salmon.

Were you the one who was on top of that beaver hole and it went in front of you and slapped it's tail, that was a riot! After you left, I got more live shad and tore into those sandies and under size hibbies including a dozen gar. Limit on crappie with that soft plastic, I dont carry anymore feather jigs in that creek anymore, they make you work for them, be lucky to get 3-5 keepers on handtied feathers in that creek. Right before sunset I marked a huge school of sandies passing underneath the 380 bridge, drop jig and caught 6-10" sandies but had to get out since my nav light was malfunctioning. Water surface temp maintains 50-55 deg. in Feb. the creek frenzy will begin for lures.
