My buddy and I decided to plan a trip to Okeechobee in March or April. Anyone out there have some recommendations for a good guide? What month is best? We plan on just flying in, fishing for two days, then flying home.

Most guides down there will want you to fish at least half a day with live bait. (or until it runs out) If that isn't your thing make sure you talk to them about your expectations before you book.

Just go to Rolands Marina in Clewston, there are several quality guides there. I spent last Spring and Summer working in FL, fished every weekend on the big O. Super nice people and reasonable rates there. Oh and the fishing is awesome, just tell the guides if you want to fish shiners or artificial they do not care.

I'll be there in two weeks. Have four days of guided artificial lined up so remind me to report back or PM me. I sure hope I hit it decent. Full moon just a couple days prior to my first day. Two days with former Elite Pro Steve Daniels and two days with the guys from Fastbreak. We shall see..

I was there prefishing the Everstart with some ole friends and we caught lots of fish but the shiner fisherman were doing a lot better. Those shiner fish are a different breed than the ones you catch on artifical. many times we would be in a small area and catching a few fish but the shiner guys were catching one after the other and all were bigger fish. We caught about 20 fish one morning but Tom Mann's trip had over 50 fish on shiners and they were done by 10:30!! Tom Mann Jr. will put u on fish but u must ask for a him at Roland's.

If you're there then come by and say hello. Look for 4 geezers in the Tiki Bar.
