First I wanted to say hello to everyone, I am new to the forum but have been reading for quite sometime. Seems like a great group of people, thought I should get involved.

I am somewhat new to crappie fishing, but absolutely love it. I am working on building up a good tackle box with all of my basics covered. My question for y'all is what would you recommend I make sure to have. Thanks and I look forward to the responses.

Welcome to the forum.

Must haves, hmmm.

Assortment of jigs in chatruese, black, pink, blue, and white and any color combinations using those colors

1/16 and 1/8 oz jigheads

8-10 ft pole with good feel and a solid backbone. I use proangler, but BnM makes a goodun too.

Quality 6-8 lb line. I like suffix, but any brand name line will do.

Assortment of weights, bobbers, slip bobbers, hooks, small swivels, etc. for fishing minners. A jig under a slip bobber is a killer too.

Crappie nibbles.

Stringer or basket to put all them barn doors in after you catch'em.

Pocket knife, needle nose pliers, forceps, spare line.

I am sure I am forgetting something, but someone else will come along shortly with more.

Paul

Welcome to the forum...lots of good information to be had here! As far as tackle... I perfer jigs, so a good assortment of soft plastics like thump buddies, bobby garland baby shads, rocky tops, and the lake fork baby shad are my go to baits in an asssortment of colors! Hand tied jigs are good as well and there are many good jig tying folks on this forum. Jiggum jigs, tnt tackle to name a few.

good fishin

:welcome: to the "TFF Family of Anglers".

I have been going thru my tackle. Looks like a tackle store scattered thru my house. I would suggest not spending too much until you try a few things and see what you might like. Would be nice if you could fish with some friends and dip into their boxes until you find what you like. If any of your friends are like me they won't mind. I would never miss what someone could use out of my boxes.

ProAngler rods... great price and great rod.
