Can someone please tell me what gear ratio a reel should have for deep diving crankbaits? I used a crankbait that dives up to 22 feet on Saturday. The reel I was cranking with made the lure feel like a sheet of plywood dragging through the water. Thanks!

I use abu garcia with 6:3:1 gear ratio. Use highest gear ratio you can find in the manufacturer you prefer.

Don't sweat the small stuff. It's all small stuff.

I prefer the lowest gear ratio you can find 3.6:1 would be a ideal but hard to find. Any reel under 5.3 would be find the lower gear ratio will make a big difference on the feel of the bait and wear on your arms. Just like going up hill on a bike the lower gears you peddle faster but it's easier to climb.

I like 5.4:1. its alot easier for me to speed a reel up rather than slow down if I ever wanna crank faster.

I use a Shimano bantam curado B38 for deep divers, 3.8:1 gear ratio. It's like the crankbait isn't even there.

Diawa Crazy Cranker 4.9:1 ratio designed especially for crank bait applications. I have one and it's a bad mammer jammer.

Lower the better if you haven't gotten that yet. This zillion is sweet!
