I spent a lot of time online comparing features and prices until the big "Duh" slapped me upside the head. It said "If you want the truth about which case is best for protecting a new iPhone 5 from everyday elements, ask the guys at TFF."
This is going to be my "walkaround" case. I'm going to get a bona fide waterproof case as well to use on bay and offshore trips (and already know it will cost a lot more and invariably inhibit functionality).
In the meantime, any yays, nays or even one-sentence verdicts on the (reportedly "Military Grade") Griffon Survivor vs. Otterbox Defender for the iPhone 5 will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks ...
Boz

Have you considered the Lifeproof cases? A little more, but they are waterproof per say. http://www.lifeproof.com/en/

I have the Otterbox, no complaints.
The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.

x3 the lifeproof isnt very much more and it is waterproof. Its military grade shock resistant and it doesnt limit the iphone much at all too.
