Search: Highend Cooler Test by Sportsmanguy.com. There is a YouTube video showing a multi day test of how long different coolers will keep ice. Before you spend the money on a Yeti watch this video! Is the Yeti good? Yes. But you will be suprised how close a $50 Coleman is in comparison! If you are buying the cooler simply because it's Top Shelf, cool and you simply want it...then just go get it! We don't always have to explain why we purchase a Lexus instead of a Honda....even if the Honda is just as good! Because we want to and we can!

Check out Brute.. very similar, but cost less and supposed to be even stronger, with the size of their product meaning actually usable enterior size. Reviews are really good. I was at the Fishing/Hungting Show in Mesquite yesterday and they had several displays of the Brutes out there.

Like has been said if you are going to be remote or without access to more ice they will keep ice for a long time. Also heavy. I like mine for what I do.

people should really look at the Brute line of coolers. I have a 50 qt and am really pleased with it. they are as good or better than a Yeti and like has been said are true to size. in other words you have to buy a 160 qt Yeti to get a cooler equal to the size of a 100 qt Brute. Yeti would be 600 bucks for a comparable size cooler you can get from Brute for 350. Another thing is that they are made in America. Brute has moved all of their manuf. to the US. Here are some size comparisons.
Brute 50 qt. Dimensions: 32 x 16.5 x 16.5 $249 Yeti "50 qt." Length: 24 " Width: 17 3/8" Height: 18 " $359
Brute 100 qt. Dimensions: 43.75 x 19 x 17.75 $349 Yeti 110 qt. Length: 37" Width: 17 7/8" Height: 19 7/8" $479.99

There great real tough holds ice long if kept closed. They are heavy and if you leave them in the bed of a truck they will be stolen. If you put the sticker on your back window it will be stolen even faster.

I get free ice, so I can never justify buying one. Thought about it for longer trips though. Just can't turn loose of that kind of money on an ice chest.

I cant see the justification for buying one unless you are doing 4 day offshore trips or something along those lines. Very limited practical application.
My thoughts also.

Yeti, Engel, Brute all the same. You can compare and see that one or the other robbed a few ideas here or there from one another but all of them hold ice about the same amount of time. Yeti is made in the USA as well as Brute and Engel so tha is a non issue. If you want a cooler to hold ice and your not in and out of it then spend the money on quality cooler and get a YETI. If your going in and out of it get a coleman extreme and save your money.
