Alright guys, time to get a bass boat. This will be my second bass boat but my first fiberglass boat. With the budget I have I am going to have to go with a late 90s model boat. I have found one that seems pretty clean (from the pictures, still need to go check it out) It is a 95 Pro-Craft. I am not as familiar with the Pro-Craft boats, if I get get some feedback on the Pro-Craft boats durability, fishability etc good and bad that would be great!

Bill Dance fished out of one for years. Good boat, just go over it like you would any other used boat. The only thing I ever heard a complaint about was when you shut it down it has a tendency to lap water over into the motorwell a little. Good Luck.

With any boat the first thing I do is grab the motor at the lower unit and shake the motor side to side and up and down. Watch the transom and if you see any movement at all it's "thanks but no thanks" and walk away. Look under it and look for any cracks, damage or repairs. Then get a compression check, preferably of the "leak down" variety on the motor. Test drive it and test all electrical equipment while on the water. When you get back to the ramp pull the plug and see if any water runs out. If it passes all this it should be OK.....There are more things you can do but these are the basics and will keep you from getting burned in most cases.

Monte Reagan Fun N Sun Sports. They have a good selection of used and new boats and a great deal to go with it.

If your looking at a boat that age, I would think the motor condition would be vital.

Personally, if I was in the market for an older boat, I would stick with the big 4 or 5 manufacturers. Skeeter, Ranger, Basscat, Champion, etc....these are proven boats in the long haul and parts should be pretty available. But, like others, motor condition and general maintenance will be vital areas also.

Don't be fooled strictly by name in a boat that age. I just got rid of 95 Dyna Trak that I bought new and fished hard for years. It had a 150 Johnson Fast Strike on it and still fishes as good as any I've ever sat down in.My son is learning the bass fishing scene in it now and is still going strong.Test drive whatever you buy and look for major structural flaws.

Pay to have mechanic check it out, trailer included. It's cheap insurance and you sleep a lot better. Will pay off later.

I have a 96 procraft 200 dc with 200 mercury. It does really well and I've never had any trouble. Just take out and see how you like it and get motor checked out. Pm me if you have any questions

In addition, check the live wells if you are gonna tourney fish. Some of the older boats don't have recirculating wells, and not enough access around them to install.
