Welcome to the Forum! Choke Canyon south of SA (90 miles) has been really good lately. Email me if you need some more info.

Welcome to the board, there are several places to fish here in the san antonio and surrounding area's it just depends what you like to fish for, if your a bass fisherman there is choke canyon, 1 1/2 hours away, lake amistad 3 hrs away. falcon lake 4 hrs , canyon lake 45 min, medina lake 30 min, calavares and braunig 30 min away, and you can have fun at all of the lakes, good luck and welcome again.

Welcome, there are plenty of lakes to fish at as you have heard but there are also nice creeks and rivers to fish as well, such as Salado Creek, Cibolo Creek, Upper Guadalupe River, Medina River etc.... Really it just depends on what kind of fish you are looking to catch and whether or not you got a boat. If you need more info let me know. Tight lines. Dosxx

Thanks alot for all the help. I do not have a boat which cuts down my options. Do the rivers down here have access for shore fishing?

I used to wade fish the Medina river out of Bandera about every week when I lived in San Antonio. There are a few access spots at some roadside parks just past Bandera. We also used to rent a tube and fish the guadalupe river at New Braunfels.

Kujo you refering to me? well i am only on after hours lol anyway yea i know of a place that you can fish a river just take 410 to bandera and go outside the loop drive all the way down prolly about 30 mins or so and you will see a sign on your left that reads "BANDERA RIVER RANCH" this is just a little neighborhood and you turn in there! go all the way down that road and stay to the right side of the road and try not to hit any deer! and you will see the river on your right side! good spot to catfish and hardly ever occupied!
good luck!

Calaveras and Braunig offer some of the finest bank fishing in the state. Plenty of shoreline, facilities and even piers to fish from, although I prefer to find a secluded area. Night is best out there, but you can do ok in the daytime as well.

I'll give you one more-head up I-10 to Boerne. Cibilo creek runs through the center of town and is dammed up. I have caught quite a few bass out of there, especially under the bridges.

Caught a few on a jig-n-pig, but most came on soft jerkbaits.
