looking to buy some new hooks. Just want to get some input on what you guys think are the best?

Owner Wide Gap Plus. Fit the hook to the bait.

I always use gamakatsu not sure they are the best, but have been using them for about 5 years and have no complaints.

I like the trokars I know there a little more pricey but there what I like and like FZ1 said match size to bait

Gamakatsu thats all I use.

I have used Gamakatsu for a long time. Like probably 25 years. I haven't been convinced anything else is that much better. I've used the EWG for a few years but I'm not sure the straight shank might be better for smaller fish.

Trokars ..by far

I got tired of straightening and losing fish on Gammy's. Even their Superline hooks.

Owner is IMO the best balance of performance and price on the market, today. And they blow Gammy away in every category, except perhaps hook point.

For flipping, I use Trokar's Flippin' Hooks and for a C-rig, especially when they're picking it up and swimming off w/o a discernable bite, I also use Trokar hooks. Wide gap or worm, depending on the bait. However, this technique is a killer, in the literal sense.

It seems as though Trokar has solved their problems with "rolling points", especially on the flippin' hook. That said, any set-up utilizing braid is gonna roll points on hooks, regardless of brand.

Look at the h20 express hooks at academy. Did the hand test vs. trokar and the h20 express one were sharper. you can buy a 25 pack for the same as a pack of trokars
