I fish the ICW around the Surfside area. Have had some good trips catching mainly Reds with a few Specks and Flounder now and then. If you concentrate on the small waterways that drain into the ICW on a out going tide you should be able to find some fish. Look for bait fish action busting out along the banks also. I've caught keeper Reds right up againts the banks several times. Flats areas also pay off. My favorite is trolling casting distance from the banks working top waters. Live shrimp and/or Finger Mullet will work also. Under a rattle cork about 14 inches deep. Hope this helps and good fishing to ya.

Just an FYI, the ICW comes from New Jersey and goes to Brownsville. It's 3000 mi long

I have fished from the bank the ICW at the the bridge where state highway 124 passes over the ICW. We have caught reds to 24", black drum to 27", sand trout, 1 spec, croaker, rays, eel. We have caught everything there that we have caught at Rollover Pass except flounder.

Fish the corners where a ship channel crosses the ICW.
( like the one west of Sabine Pass )
Only fish moving water, the fish will load up on the shelf
between the bank and the drop-off.

cast up current , let the current move your bait,
as close to bottom as you can keep without hanging up.

Watch out for barges and tankers. smile

I fished it behind Stingeree once. I got spolled by something, only time it ever happened. We caught some big black drum and some keeper reds all on crabs and mud minnows.

Yes you can trust the Government, just ask the Indians.

How do you get to an area under or near the bridge to fish?

Take 124 south from I-10, pass over the bridge at the ICW. About .7 miles from the top of the bridge on the right(west) side there is a cut where you can turn and head back north. Follow this road back to the ICW. It is a small area about 100 yards wide and a second area about 40 yards wide. The larger area is where we have caught all of our fish. I have never fished at the smaller area, but on one trip saw 3 hispanic men catch more than a 3 man limit of flounder.

Go to Google earth 29* 35'40.33"N
94* 23'25.07"W
The smaller area is down the other path that leads from the larger area.

I have fished it near the Sabine. This time of year stay deeper and fish the dropoffs. There are a lot of specks that suspend in the deeper water.
