Hey all
I moved to Texas last February, and have explored a few of the lakes. Coming from Wisconsin, dock fishing was pretty strait forward, just about every dock held fish. I have yet to catch a single fish off docks. I fish Eagle mountiain lake as it is only a mile from my house, and have still not found fish on the docks. What I have noticed is these Texas bout houses are far higher from the water level than I am used to, and do not offer the direct cover the docks I am used to do. Any advice on how to break these boat houses and docks down would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
TB

Just wait until the lake fills up. Right now there isn't much water under any docks for fish to take cover under

I personally wouldn't consider EM to be a great dock lake, but rather out in front of the dock is where I have found them on that lake. There is some really good structure out in front of docks. I have also found that there are always fish on points. Keep an eye on your graph and note the changes in contours and you'll put something togather out there. I am by no means a regular out there, but this is how I approach this lake.

I believe, as far as distance between dock and water, that the drought has been problematic. Most of the East Texas docks I have ever seen are only 1 to 1.5' above the water therefore providing shade for fish to get into. Just like up north fish do relate to docks here in Texas, however all docks are not created equal for all spieces. No all will hold bass all the time, some will. To me all docks will hold what we call perch (brim, bluegill, sunfish or whatever you want to call them). With brushpiles or other structure around the dock the odds improve for more spieces of fish. Try different baits for different spieces or add brushpiles to improve your odds.

Fished em 4 times, lake hates my guts, tough lake to fish for me, but a long haired hippie airline mechanic i know kills them there on a finesse presentation on points and in front of docks and in some of the coves around housing.

I will be back. I'm never truly gone.....Last post by Brad RIP

I'm pretty much convinced Texas fish don't know what docks are for. Bright days are about the only time I've done any good on Texas docks.

I got a good fishin buddy that fishes Eagle mountain all the time. He mostly fishes docks, and always does well. He's called W. C. bass, and he's on the forum all the time. I think the docks are higher off the water here because our lake levels change with the seasons more so here than up north. W. C. mostly uses rubber worms in a kind if finesse presentation.

On highly pressured lakes like Tyler a fish anywhere near a dock has seen approximately 64,819 lures in the last 30 days. He may be just a tad wary.

Try a wacky worm. It's more finesse and gives the fish a different look.

Fish slow around docks, they will be better on blue bird sky's. one thing about docks is try not to hit it, fish spook easy right now with low water levels, if you do hit it come back to it and be sure to fish all post and cross members.

downsize on eagle mountain. flip a bitsy bug jig with small watermelon trailer. only fish the docks that you see brush on. fish it slow. crawl it over a limb, then just let it sit for a 20 count.

Thanks for all the advice. Once the rain stops I am going to go out and apply some of what you have all said. I am use to using 4 inch and 5 inch senkos, wieghted with a 1/16th oz pegged bullet. Typically my go to color is Watermelon Candy. Is there any other plastics that are preferred to Texas bass?

Sometimes docks get pounded so fish will migrate to the next closest available cover. Try looking for cover next to docks if your not getting bit.
