Having a few issues with my trolling motor batteries ... I know that in the past some of you recommend the Sears Platinum and Trojan batteries....How about the Bass Pro Shops Deep Cycle batteries? Anyone have any experience with them?

I am retired and live on Toledo Bend .. Not too many stores that sell batteries except Jasper (Wal-Mart) near so I want to buy something that will do the best job possible with no issues.... Thanks for any recommendations --

I prefer gel/AGM batteries because, you don't have to worry about them. I went with a Deka Dominator 31 for my cranking/accessory battery and really like it. It is one a just a few batteries that has a combination of high CCA'S and reserve capacity. The big Merc's require the cca's and they will run your livewell and accessories all day. The Sears Platinum is another. I use the same ones on my tm. They're expensive but, you said you didn't want to worry.

I've never owned one, but those Sears Platinums are supposed to be awesome, and Sears is very, very proud of them too.

Johnson Controls make most batteries sold in USA.

Same manufacture, They just put a different name on the battery for who ever they produce it for.

Smoke and mirrors.

I didn't have the best of luck with BPS batteries. Sears, Trojan are good. I hear interstate is about to release a new "marine" deep cycle battery. Good luck

I believe the Walmart battery is still the best for the dollar. Non of the marine batteries are cheap but walmart has always cost less than most and for me they have lasted as long or longer than most. Good warranty and usually don't have to go too far to be able to get a replacement.

+1... Never very far from a WalMart!!! and thier warranty is just as good as most others. I've never had an issue with thier Marine batteries. There probably made by Johnson Controls also.

Powertron.
Big.
Very heavy.
Lots of reserve.
The best I've seen since Interstate became junk.

My new boat has 5 interstates installed by the dealer which cost me less than $400. To me it came down to use the traditional battery and anything over a year is bonus time(after warranty) or pay out the wazzu and hope they are as dependable as they claim(life past their warranty date). I'm still on the fence what to do when the first one goes out after the warranty period though.

I agree the Walmart batteries are as good as most and are a good value, but their warranty isn't what it used to be. Now it's 12 months. After that you are out of luck.
