HB partisans didn't exactly take the high road when confronted by the LSS technology. Remember the mantra? Lowrance users had to shake the water out of their displays before each use, that "customer service" did not exist, and that Lowrance had pirated HB software, for which they would shortly get their comeuppance in court, with the likely result that those fool enough to truck with their products would be left without support, their warranties useless. I was even called a "troll" by some twerp. I have a memory for such things.

Tickeled me, the other day, to see how an 898 user had illustrated the various sonar modalities. He used one of his pics for the 2d function, but my LSS shots for "downscan" and "sidescan." And I don't think anyone's likely to challenge my "amateur" status.

There are detractors for both brands equally. Also some owners of each don't take the time to learn how to use them. Both make good products and will do what they are designed to do. One may do a particular function better than the other.
It's good to have a choice.

I used HB since the box flashers wehn to Lowrance about 25 years ago and have never been sorry. I had an issue between the internal and external reading different it was solved by sending Low CS an email. The issue was in how the person who installed the external antenna instaled Low CS gave me the info I needed to take care of the problem myself.
