Family is going to Disney World for Spring Break. I have heard that they have some pretty good guided bass outings on a couple of the lakes in the park. Anyone have any experiences to share?

A co-worker took his boys for a half day with one of Disney's guides. They fished off a pontoon with live bait. His kids aren't very experienced fishermen, so this was perfect for them. And they smoked 'em!

I took a trip with a guide on Toho. I wanted to fish artificial but the guide kept on insisting on fishing live bait. He also kept on insisting on a half day trip only. Beware!!!! Caught some fish but wasn't really satisfied.

Fished a Pro-Am on the Disney lake. Large numbers of 1 to 3 lb. fish that delight casual anglers and favor family type outings. If you are hardcore bass angler I would recommend going to Toho or one of the many other lakes around Orlando. Look up Orlando guides or start a post requesting referrals.

Basszilla... If you take another trip to toho let me know. I spend a lot of time on toho and the kissimmee chain and I would be glad to refer you to someone who is on fish during that given time. Might not be a guide but the fact that your in texas and not a threat on tournament day I can get someone to put ya on fish.

I had the exact same experience. Wish I would have just done the Disney trip. Plus he made me buy the shiners. Then he kept what we didn't use to take home to his pond to feed to his bass. It sucked. I was warned but I just had to go to Toho. Plus I had already been to Falcon and he was trying to tell me Toho was better than Falcon.

The bass have seen so many artifical lures they won't hit much if it aint live.

We've done it twice.

The first time we did this my son was probably 11-12 years old. The guide asked we we wanted a quantity of bass or a bigger quality of bass. We chose quantity and we caught lots of bass with some up to 4 lbs.

The second time we did we booked the trip several months in advance and not paying much attention to the weather conditions down there. They were in the middle of a drought season and the lakes were several feet low. We didn't catch as many but it was still fun. The highlight was my son was using a spinning reel with 8 lb line and flipped a shiner under the dock and something grabbed it and completely stripped the line. We could do nothing!!!

It's expensive, as with everything that's Disney related, but fun.

We stayed at the Contemporary Resort at Disney several years ago. Its the one that has the monorail running through the lobby. I believe it was in May.

The guided fishing trips were done in a pontoon boat. Our "guide" was a nice young man that was actually one of the ski boat drivers for the resort but he knew the lake well. He took shiners and spinning rigs but we had taken some soft plastics and a few hooks & weights.

The lake was lined with hydrilla and coon tail grass and the water was dark and clear. We fished two morning trips with him and caught about 40 bass each morning. It was about 3 hours each trip. The fish there bit a Senko and a Fluke very well. No big fish. A 4# was the biggest we caught but lots of fishes to be caught!

Don't recall how much it cost but as someone above said, everything at Disney is expensive so by the time you get home you are kinda numb to the cost. I do remember breakfast one morning was $24 tho. Lol

We went at the end of summer. I was wanting to do a trip but it was expensive just for a 4 hour trip. I elected to pass on fishing at Disney. I did see three bass that were about two pounds near splash mountain along with blue gill.

I did it a few years ago (in february) when my son was 5. We fished from a pontoon and spent most of our time around the docks right by the "fishing guide registration shack." We fished with live bait and spinning rods. My son caught several 3-4 pounders and had one break his heart stripping line. I hooked one that was at least 7 but the line broke right at the knot. When the guide tried to retie for me, I politely said I would get it :-) However, it was a very pleasant experience and actually a great way to see the resort from a different perspective. The guide knew lots of things about the park....it really was more than just a fishing trip, but it was costly.

We stay at the RV park when we go. The RV park is on the body of water adjacent to Magic Kingdom. They have Nitro Z-8's there for trips, but also do some trips on pontoon boats. Price wise, a half day there costs you the same as a full day anywhere else. Lake is loaded with submerged vegetation. I asked my boy if he wanted to go out and he didn't want to. Maybe next time.

Went there this July with the family and fished Disney's Bay lake with my Dad and my 10 year old son. We had an amazing time! The guide, Jerry something, was great. Fished half day out of a pontoon and caught 35-40 bass, up to 6 pounds. Used live shiners and they definitely ate them up! Was not your typocal die hard bass fishing trip by any means, but awesome catching for the family!!!
