I am new to texoma and bait fishing. I have a cast net but don't know where to catch shad or what time. In this cold I like to launch at 8:30 or so. I have hp heard the striper don't bite shiners also.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys.

They are a little thin at Highport. Shiners are a total waste of time. Hellbender is correct. Deadsticking flukes is the artificial version of using live bait right now. You rig it up, hang it down, and pull up when they hit it. PM and I'll let you know how we do it on my boat. it's been working well.

If you are out west.. Any of the shallow coves out west Paw Paw, with stained 'rust brown' water are holding lots of bait to allow you to fill the bait tank in a few throws(if you are into that sort of thing...and I certainly am), but as others have indicated, artificial baits were out-fishing live bait (at least on my boat) last week and this weekend. Not much to say about this weekend, as no fish were caught on shad, may need to cut them up an use for cut-bait, or chum..
For Highport Marina, you need to get there before sunrise and search under the lights, or you'll be picking at them 3 to 8 of them at a time.
