Are they still doing the thing where you keep everything you catch on size of crappie?

From http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/fishboat/fish/action/fishregs2.php?water=0433

Crappie
For black and white crappie caught from DEC. 1 through the last day of FEB., there is no minimum length limit and all crappie caught must be retained. From March through November, minimum length is 10 inches. Year-round daily bag limit is 25 crappie in any combination.

That is for Lake Fork. I don't know of any other lake in Texas that has the same restriction.

The reason for the rule is during the winter the crappie come from deep water and they all die as soon as you get them to the surface. So no matter the size its going to die anyway might as well keep it.

Headed to Fork tomorrow and hoping for a good weekend trip! Lake O' the Pines also has the same restrictions during the same timeframe in the winter months!

So does this mean crappie on other Texas lakes don't come from deep water during this time? Or are they just tougher and don't die? LoL

Teach a man to fish and he will figure out how to lie on his own!

Do I look WORRIED?
