Dress warm and prepare to grind. Cranks, jigs, and flukes

Just got back from a 5 day trip a couple days ago.

The Lake is SLOW... SLOW 3 guys, 4 full days of fishing produced around 10 fish. Most of them quality fish though

People were cutting their trips short that we talked to.

We caught fish doing everything but the only consistent pattern we developed was on rock ledges on Cranks.

We also pulled some fish out of shallow brush on jigs

Good luck.... go south

I had a trip planned down there and was urged to not even bother by some of my friends who live down there and fish it regularly. Instead they are coming up here to fish with me on Dunlap and Canyon. That is sad.

Fishing is tough down there.

the fishing started slowing about 8 months ago after the lake received tremendous fishing pressure, falling water levels, cleaning stations, gill netters, mayan calender, giant gar, etc. you name it, it was blamed on the terrible fishing. it needs to catch about 30f of water

Everything is fine at Falcon all you need is a chartreuse Time Machine and a 1 gallon bag of Watermelon Red Magnum Flukes.

10 or 12 ft of water would do wonders. It would put a lot of structure back in play.

True but i think thats would just help fishing for a short period and not the fishery. It needs to fill completely so the cycle can start over. Lots of new growth this spring and summer that would be beneficial to the spawn, stockings, and shad spawn if it did fill up

Well I tell ya what 12 foot of water would certainly help. I just got back from a 4 day Falcon trip and was astonished at the lack of fish catching. With three of us on the boat we only boated four fish avg'd 7.12 a fish. We talked to several boats who had the same results. One of the local guides had two clients drive 22 hours for a day of fishing and the guide and two clients caught a fish a piece with big fish going 6lbs. Normally when you go fishing you can catch more than a limit of dink males right, well the majority of anglers we spoke to had not even seen a dink in quite sometime, there is also more dang bait down there than you can shake a stick at. The fish we caught were thin and looked unhealthy. Something else is going on within the lake that is not quite right. I only hope it rights itself soon. It will be interesting to see how the Elites do down there in March.
