I can't think of why it wouldn't be KVD, he's won a lot of tournaments fishing a lot of techniques. Just because a Tx rigged worm is his biggest weakness doesn't mean he's not very comfortable in throwing it. Exactly! And to solidify his versatility, here's a list of his Elite Series wins and weights: Louisiana Delta, LA 69.11 lbs Alabama River, AL 26.0 lbs Kentucky Lake, TN 92.5 lbs Lay Lake, AL 51.6 lbs Alabama River, AL 30.6 lbs Smith Mountain Lake, VA 61.13 lbs Kissimee Chain, FL 59.7 lbs Kentucky Lake, KY 84.13 lbs Grand Lake, OK 78.2 lbs Lake Guntersville, AL 66.3 lbs Three Rivers, PA 12.15 lbs Lake Wissota, WI 24.0 lbs Lake Lewisville, TX 58.12 lbs Louisiana Delta, LA 32.5 lbs St Lawrence River, NY 51.4 lbs Sam Rayburn, TX 41.5 lbs Potomac River, MD 51.5 lbs St Lawrence River, NY 51.4 lbs Lake Lanier, GA 61.13 lbs Pretty versatile for a smallmouth fisherman from Kalamazoo.

I don't see why more of you folks aren't surrendering to KVD..? How can you win all the tourneys, Classic's and AOY titles and not be versatile?
Pretty easy math if you ask me.

Martens for sure but KVD deserves more credit for being from Michigan and totally dominating lakes down south.

If the fish aren't eating moving baits KVD struggles 99% time. He has to find a way at every tournament almost to make them eat a reaction bait. That's not to versatile. Yes probably smartest and best on your but most versatile no.
I can backlash toilet paper.

Maybe being the most versatile does not translate to being the best. Seems like a lot of the very best are just outstanding at one or two techniques and use that advantage to beat more versatile pros... interesting.

Exactly Dr! Spinnerbait/crank, KVD - Flipping, Biffle or Brauer, sight fishing, Grigsby and on and on. If you were stuck and needed someone to help you catch fish to eat, who then?

I've only been LMB fishing for 7-8 years, but it's become an obsession.
Where I currently live I'm on rabbit ears. I'll move soon and want to be sure I can stay in the know and watch the Tourney Series.
What cable/satillite station/service do I need to get?
thanks,
Carl

KVD!!! How can you say that the guy who won the Pittsburg Classic with 12 lbs and change and then backs it up with a 5th place finish with 97.3 lbs at Amistad in the grass not be versatile? First he is known as a spinnerbait guy then the cranking guru but yet he has won with light line and jerkbaits, he is just Bad A$$.

Yes probably smartest and best on your but most versatile no. This post contradicts itself, you said it yourself. He "finds a way" at every tournament to make them eat a reaction bait. Fishing is a game of adjustments, and he makes adjustments better than anyone ever has. And thats very versatile. You guys are just upset because he's been the best and most versatile for so long, your tired of hearing his name. I can understand that

ML Right on. And when he won at Lewisville, he broke the lake record on a 4" shakeyhead worm on 6 lbs line. He's the best power fisherman that's ever lived and one of the best finesse fisherman on tour. I don't understand how much more veraitile a dude can be.
