Do we have to buy any "local" licenses or permits to fish N Texas lakes? Where on www can I find that info? Didn't see anything on TPWD website. Google search unsuccessful...& frustrating.

+65 Okie (& DW) looking to try some north TX lakes this summer (looking at MapQuest, thinking maybe Ray Roberts, Garza/Little Elm, Grapevine, Ray Hubbard, Lavon, Tawakoni, Fork). We both have OK lifetime licenses and according to TPWD we don't need to buy any state licenses or permits (OK-TX reciprocal agreement)(sure wish every state had same kind of reciprocal agreement!).

TIA!

Fishing, a man knows a serenity of soul and peace of mind that he finds in doing nothing else, and it makes no difference whether or not he catches anything. The mind of a true fisherman is not on petty subjects.

I believe that agreement is for the border lakes like Texoma.

In addition to the border lakes licenses, many area lakes have access fees imposed by the controlling authority. Most of these fees are paid at the ramp.

You can find it on the TPWD website. In the where to fish area.
http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/fishboat/fish/recreational/lakes/inplains.phtml

Once you've clicked a lake, there is a map on the right with a link to public access, once you click that link it shows the ramps, and has permit info. For example, it says you need a permit for Moss Lake.

http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/fishboat/fish/recreational/lakes/moss/access.phtml

Most lakes you just pay at the ramp and don't need any extra permits. Good luck and tight lines.

Your Oklahoma senior license is good in Texas. Some small city lakes require a permit to fish. Moss Lake, Lake Worth and Mill Creek are only ones that I know of. Come on down and enjoy our great fishing.

If you're 65 or older and an OK resident, no license needed. Some lakes/areas do charge access fees. These usually apply only to boat launching, but some areas will charge for bank fishing as well.

No fish is too good for the grease.

I believe there is/was a Brazos river authority tag you had to have to boat on possum kingdom/granbury/whitney and the river.

I may be dead wrong so do homework if you plan to boat that waterway.
