 well About to buy a new 1198

Sold my 1197 and happy with what I got so now to get the 1198 which I am almost ready for. I got to look at on of the new HD units at Bass Pro a few weeks ago and dumb me didn't know the difference, but I do now, LOL! Didn't actually see the 1198, but the one smaller one was enough for me.
Now will have to set up a unit all over again.

Their are no changes to the 1198c SI combo' going into 2013 like on the 800 and 900 series. The 1198c SI combo is the very same unit as it was in 2012.

HD was first going to be a marketing term for Industry Leading or Equal Pixel Count Designation. Humminbird & Lowrance both had same Pixels so they were promote versus HDS they were HD.
They removed the designation from the 800, 900 & 1100 Series because some models had different screen sizes.
The HD Designation was kept on the 700 Series HD Models to designate Industry Leading 640 by 640 Pixel Count Screen in a 5" Unit and the biggest reason to designate they are Ethernet Compatible.
The HD Designation on the NEW 2013 800/900 Series are are going to designate Higher Pixel Count Per Inch than Lowrance and the new LED Backlight.
1100 Series has never officially been branded with HD. BUt it does have Equal Pixel Count and features the HDSI (Gen 2 SI Technology).

When I was looking around on my first visit to Bass Pro was also when I was told the 1198 is HD and has the ethernet connection. The HD is what made me want one.
So why would they tell me that if not officially branded as HD?

Just spoke with Humminbird and the 800 & 900 are just adding what the 1198 already have which is LED Back Lighting. SO the screens now are the same, just bigger on the 1198. The 1198 is HD Oldman plus has Ethernet connection for Radar or even the 360 Degree Scan if you buy the 360 part. THe 1197 is a different screen and the other things I just mentioned. SO the picture should be more clear and defined better.
