While fishing, our HDS5 was working one minute and then shut itself off and will not power on. We tried it with fresh batteries and it still will not power on. Took it to All Star in Lewisville and they said the only solution was to send it to Lowrance. Called Lowrance and they want $450. to fix it. Do I have any other options? It was purchased in mid 2009.

Did you do the soft and hard reset procedure? Do you have current updates installed?

Even with a fully charged battery, you push the power button on and nothing happens. It won't turn on at all so no way to do a reset.

Lowrance will end up doing an upgrade for you to the Gen2 at a pro-rated cost to you.

Don't know of an internal fuse. Tried several wire connections on the outside.

There should be a fuse in your power line where it connects to your battery or power source.
