Well a friend of mine got herself a new American Rodsmith pole for Christmas and told me she wasn't going to come fishing unless I got a rod rack to keep her new toy safe. Well $7 and an hour later this is what I came up with haha. It ain't pretty, but it seems to do the job just fine.

I like that! It gets the rods up and out of the way but not straight up. My kayak would fit right under it. In fact, I may copy it if you don't mind. If you see one in the back of a Tacoma around Surfside, it probably me.

Cool idea! Perfect for toolbox trucks.

That's a good idea. Slanted so they're a shorter overall height.

What did you do to keep the rack from tilting over?
(In case, you hit a speed bump or pothole)

Well I had 2 little safeties in that regard. I cut the base board a little long so that you really had to jam it in between the wheel wells. I also have 2 eye hooks in the back where I have bungee cord attached to where i have tie down strap connections under the tool box. It takes quite a bit of force to get it out with it just wedged in so the bungees are just extra protection.

Here's mine, I've since made it so rods stick straight up. Doesn't get in the way of my yaks at all. & rods are safe to 80mph smile

Nice. Does it bounce around a lot when the yaks aren't in there?
