My dad used a small galvanized bucket and put about 3 inches of sand in the bottom. Then add regular BBQ charcoal and light them up while on shore. Those coals stayed hot for hours and would keep your hands warm. Never had to worry about a open flame in the boat and could cook hotdogs at the sametime.
Reggie brilliant idea ......i like that ...... my hands and my buds hands froze today ..... man that would have been nice to have glowin in the boat

Why not just dress properly!
I was on the lake at daylight both Thursday and Fridey.
I didnt need no heater... Neither did my friend who weighs 100 pounds less!
God loves you just as much as anybody else!!

Mr. Heater 'Buddy' ,or the Mr. Heater 'Big Buddy'. They are both indoor safe, auto shut off if tipped over, built in Igniter, Buddy approx. 9K BTUs, Big Buddy 4K, 9K, up to 18 K BTUs depending on settings. Buddy uses 1, 0ne pound bottle of propane bottle, Big Buddy uses 2, one pound bottles of propane. Northern Tool has the best prices on um. I've been considering buying one of um, for my boat. This...but if you have any wind propane heat will be next to worthless.

I didnt need no heater... Neither did my friend who weighs 100 pounds less! Folks who like to fish don't let a little cold weather get in the way. Dress in layers, use hand warmers and even a small propane heater if you need it.

I can keep everything comfortable but my hands. I have not found away to keep my hands warm and be able to function in a boat.

Years ago I used a catalytic heater in a boat. I wore a large poncho and would stand close to the heater and hold the poncho over the heater to make a canopy. It would get me toasty warm in the boat or in a duck blind. One time I melted a hole in the poncho when it touched the heater. Looking back, it probably border lined on being a safe operation.
I recommend several layers of clothes and use chemical hand warmers (HotHands value pack at Academy). They are not too expensive if you buy the value pack and last 6-8 hours. Put one inside your jacket and a couple in your pockets or gloves to warm your hands.
If we concentrated on the really important stuff in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles

use a 5 gallon metal bucket and a propane gas lantern for multi purpose use, cut a few holes around the sides of the bucket high and low, put the lamp in the bucket, you can use the lid as food warmer, you have light and it heats up pretty good even with a little wind, need a little drag on the back of the boat while spider rigging, you can use the bucket on a short rope as a drift sock too

Reggie I use a pair of neoprene gloves. Cut out the trigger finger and use hand warmers and just like MrRoachie "I didnt need no heater".

Chemical Hand warmers are the safest way to go. I recommend six. One in each boot, one in each front pant pocket and one in each neopreme glove.
When you start catching fish or walking the banks you will be sweating in no time.
Don't sweat the small stuff. It's all small stuff.

If anyone uses this style with the 20lb tank. Get a milk crate to set the bottle in. It fits perfect and is 100% stable.
