Does anyone have any success with using the small Mr.Crappie crankbaits for deep water crappie in the winter or anytime for that matter? I am looking to try to buy some of these if it is worth buying thanks for the help!

I'm afraid I'll snag and loose it. Never try that because once you loose it adds up. Good luck

Sounds good so far now were would the best place be to use them and how? What kind of structure do you all use them around if any. I was under the assumption that you would use them in open water on suspended fish or maybe submerged brush that was deeper than the max dive depth of the lure. Is this pretty close?

yes this works for me also you can add weight to the line above it then work the weight on the bottom and the crank above it.

What weight test line do you use for the mainline? I use 12 lb. Do you use a three way swivel and how long a tag line? I use about 12" tag line 18" from bottom.

I have used them in the past and caught crappie slow cranking up a slope with a weight on the bottom. Reel until I feel the lure contact bottom and stop. The hit occurs usually after stopping the lure.

So are you letting the weight hit the bottom? Or are you just using a weight to get it to the right depth and letting the diving action of the crank to hit the bottom and then float up?

I let the weight drag the bottom because it does not take much weight to sink the small crankbaits. It does not take much action for the lure to hit the bottom or slowly rise or swim. I only use this when working a slope with little or no debris to hang up on. The steeper the slope the better the bite especially in the winter.
