Decided I wanted a little more deck room on my Skeeter. Plus I am adding a stereo system without any fiberglass mods. So I figured a deck extension was in order. Going to mount speaker boxes under and leave the centee open for sound and a quicl place to stuff life jackets etc... Let me know what you guys think so far. planning on adding a storage door on the larger side, possibly for an additional accesory battery. will post the finished product later

I did not see where you coated it with fiberglass resin. Paint will last a little while but will not last long. Brush on some fiberglass resin and it will last a long time.

Good build but in this application more glass less wood....the wood, screws and hardware overall is too mich weight. Remove some bracing and add fiberglass to the mix.....

Before putting the resin on get something to scuff the paint so it will stick

Looks sturdy. Actually looks like you are building a deck not a fishing deck extension! If they framed boats like that they wouldnt float! Sorry...looks like youre doing good! You would be amazed what you can build with cardboard....when soaked in resin and coated with fiberglass! Really

I wanting too build one for my sf175 ... I was thinking aluminum sheet with a few legs .. then it would easy too remove if needed ... my nitro had a setup like that and was nice if I needed space I could remove in a second like a insert ..... that wood looks heavy

the plywood is heavy but the support structure is 1 1/4 by 1 1/4 only weighs about 30 pounds all together.
Also, it will be a removable ( 1 man) piece, fairly easy to set in and out of the boat now. only additional weight will be carpet, speakers and battery.
i wanted it sturdy as it will be my step up on the deck and will house electronics, to include an extra battery.
wish I was more experienced in fiberglass, might try a glass application, but wood is all I know. lol.
paint is scuffed, resin purchased. now just need a lil' warmth, before I apply it. also just purchased a lawn and garden battery, which will be dedicated to the stereo and LEDs im going to install. Gonna test the run time on the battery with the stereo going before install.

You're definitely gonna need warm weather for 'glassing. We use wood mainly for support or around supported areas. Glass is very strong in corners and when u add layers. You could glass the radio in and have a sweet custom sound system with 2-6.5's on each side. Then cover in carpet. Btw...I dont know where way out here is!

already have to boxes for the speakers that are rubber coated.
