i know a lot of guys don't get started til march, but thinking about trying to do a little open event on feb. 9 on martin creek. it's a hot water lake that should be in full spawn phase at that time and it's the day before a new moon. so should be some good ones to be caught out there and hey, no slot on this lake!

this would be a 2 man team event, best 5 fish per boat.

entry would be $70 per boat/ $35 per man w/ 30 going to stringer and 5 going to big fish pots. if you wish to fish solo that's fine and you will have to pay for both halves of the stringer entry but only one of the big fish entries as that is an individual award. your entry to fish solo would be $65.

probably launch at 8 am and weigh-in at 4 pm.

idea for this or any event i put on is to have a relaxed good time with enjoying a day of honorable competition being the main goal. fun and trash talk are a mandate. junior anglers are encouraged to come out with an adult teammate.

where is martin creek

I have had some good times on Martin Creek but I will have to miss this one. That is our 2nd Tyler event of the 2013 Season.

I remember one day while fishing the discharge area we had a deer come swimming by the boat.

martin creek is between henderson and tatum. closer to tatum, i blieve the state park ramp is like 4-5 miles sw of tatum down hwy 43.

launch at 8 am and weigh-in at 4 pm. if you are at ramp area off plane by 4 you are on time. late penalty is 1/2 lb per 5 min's late

dead fish penalty is 1/4 lb and any dead fish must be retained for consumption by yourself or agreed to be taken by another angler for consumption.

we will be launching from a state park ramp and there is a $3 entry fee to park per man. state regs of 14 inch minimum length for largemouth, no size limit for spotted bass on this lake

alrgiht fellas, talked to some guys yesterday, should be good turnout, who else wants in.

okay two weeks left til 1st event of year. looks like 12 for sure with some guys interested and waiting to here from. 15 should be easy at this point and should/could be more like 20 boats for this one. looks like it'll be a good turn out for a feb. tourny in the middle of nowhere east texas.

Im pretty sure im in waiting to hear from my partner now.
