I've only fished the dam area, right where they let the water out of Canyon. Was wondering what other spots in the area are nice? I have waders and a kayak if needed, would much rather fish from shore though.
Thanks, Kevin.

Head on down river road from the dam. The first crossing you come to after the traffic light on river road is Rio Raft on your left. Good fishing either side of the bridge from there, and then most of the camps and crossings on past all the way down to Hueco springs. Be warned those areas down river road have size limits and are artificial lures and flies only, so the live bait and cheese balls, power baits won't fly.

It's packed because it's free entry and no special regulations. The other areas downstream are usually free from the crowds. Try during the week if you want to avoid the crowds, after the holidays.

I went to Guadalupe Park on the weekend once, just once. It was elbow-to-elbow. I give that an overall thumbs down. Fished Huaco Springs last year also. Easy access and lower crowd count, but the water is really shallow and the best parts of the river are cut off down stream. Gonna take my girls to one of the camps next week and yak the river. Better have your license handy. Was checked multiple times by multiple wardens. They even checked my coolers for fish.

Rio raft : First 10 people will get free entry with parking permit then rest will have to pay to fish as usual rest other spots moutain breeze/white water /camp huaco they are free to fish . Weekdays you will hardly notice much people weekends - evening time is perfect for fishing no one at the river except few fly fishing folks.
