Awesome story! Great inspiration as well as I have been considering. I am starting in local bass club this year. Just to get my feet wet.

Thanks for sharing, I'm currently working my tail off to build my biz. Before I opened a new branch office in north texas I was fishing 4 days a week, I decided recently to focus on the new office to build a steady stream of income so can dedicate more time in 2014 to chasing my fishing dream.

I love when I hear a fellow angler chasing his dream...I wish you the best of luck and great success in 2013!

Mark, that was really cool. Felt like I was in the boat with you a couple times while reading.

You drew some very good pros along the way. And the good ones did what they do (sorry for the basketball reference). By that, I mean they remember where they came from, where they are today and what this sport is really about.

Had you been against them (boater), they'd have gone for the jugular at the first opportunity, as well they should.

What's so refreshing about this story, in addition to the kindness you were shown and what that says about the PEOPLE in this sport, is the thanks you gave for your successes. You persevered, you overcame self-doubt and you finally broke through. Yet you gave all the glory where it is due.

Don't sell yourself short. That was you on the other end of that rig. I'd call it a breakout year. Can't wait to see what you do in 2013, and beyond.

Great read Mark! I fished 2 years in the Weekend Series and did pretty well the first year, not as well the 2nd. Then financial limitations along with the birth of my first child had restricted my fishing time. I now have 2 boys and my time is limited, but I am hoping to get back into the swing of things in 2013 or 2014 at the latest. Ive never fished the Everstarts but may give them a look, along with the Weekend Series again.

mark, i can remember the first fish i ever caught, a 3lb. gold fish on a cane pole and bobber. i still remember the thrill of that fish pulling on the line. i was so little that i backed up the bank of the pond and drug the fish out onto the bank. i have been addicted to fishing all my life. glad that you seem to be the same way. heavenly father blesses us in so many ways. i love to catch bass, but any day on the water is a blessing.

Thank you Bassmaster 150 for the kind words!!

Mark. It is a pleasure to call you a friend and I am very proud of what you have accomplished so far. You and Diane are wonderful people and it is truly amazing how God can put people in our lives. It was a blast having you and David travel and fish the Central Everstarts this past year. Even if at Kentucky Lake during practice you tried to cross the eyes of every fish or so it seemed. LOL. I am glad you enjoyed yourself. I wish that things could have worked out for you to fish the Tour this coming season but I have a feeling you will be busy enough with the two divisions of the Everstarts. Hopefully we can get together on a few of the Everstarts this year if the schedule allows.

Good luck this upcoming season and I just want to say that it truly is a blessing when we can pursue our passions in life. This truly is a wonderful sport Take care my friend.

Great advice!! Very uplifting.
