I put an Edge Evolution on a 2008 model. It helped with mileage about 2-3 MPG. Loved the power I gained from it. The Evolution has 3 levels, and I kept mine on 2 at all times. (2 is the tow setting)

Pro: Easy install, it sits on the dash nicely. Has lots of information that you can display. It can recognize engine trouble codes.

Cons: It recommends running 93 octane for level 3.

When/if you decide on one, let me know. I can get performance parts and will make you a good deal.

A tuner does you little to no good on a gasoline engine. Put a cold air intake and keep it tuned up. Run a premium synthetic oil. My good neighbor of 7years is a chevy master mechanic and i have had this convo with him. A tuner allows you to raise your rev limiter and change tire size to correct speedo. Other than that, that money is a few more trips to the lake.

What is a cold air intake? What does it do for performance and gas mileage?

You would probably do well to save your money for fuel. The EPA has started to crack down on some of the programmer suppliers. bm

I would like to know why he would tell you a tuner will not help you,it changes, fueling and timing and transmission shift points, along with having the upgrades for larger tires and different rear axle ratios,And by the way just for the record

And yes there are some tuners out there that are not certified for use in on highway vehicles,Diablo makes a good programmer and there are a few more companies out there that have good programmers also.

Being a Ford guy and if you are just talking programmers yes there is a big difference in manufacturers. I have had Gryphon on my 97 for five years. Yes performance increased, grin factor increased. This is what I bought it for! Fuel mileage came up 1 mpg but as stated this wasn't why I bought it. Overall between the 87 octane performance/ 87 octane towing and 91 octane performance selections it is very versatle. I never considered going the cookie cutter off the shelf programers either. Custom is the only way to go. Way to many other priorities in my life going on or I would already have one on the 06 but that will be coming soon.
