Some of the "newer" stock has the newer handle and knobs too that the Daiwas have. Thats a steal at that price.

Got one when they first came out years ago. Didn't use it that much but after a while it sounded like the gears were grinding really badly. Are the the ones on sale now a new version of the old reel or old stock?

Are the the ones on sale now a new version of the old reel or old stock? That is a great question and one I should know the answer to. They are not in the new Daiwa catalogs so i would assume its just moving old stock. If they have the new vector logo then they are new. If its the older TD or starburst logo then they are older units. I will ask and post the answer.

$80 now - and there is a promotion for $20 off $150. So you can get two for $153, including tax. No shipping if you pick it up at a store, otherwise shipping applies. Cabelas.com

I've got some and I love them. I'll be picking up a couple more for that price.

Original price of $199 I believe. The Sol, Fuego and Viento were discontinued @ the same time if I remember correctly. Just remember to lube the bearings if you get 1. Being in a box that long I would think they would be a little dry.

Absolutely loved mine for the three years I had it. Some jerk stole it off my rod when I did my move out here from california. I used it throwing 1/8 oz darter head jigs all the way to 3/4 oz. Jigs. Drag was great a it held plenty of line as well. I would love to get another one!

Are the the ones on sale now a new version of the old reel or old stock? I also bought one several years ago. Didn't use it very much but mine also sounds like gravel inside it. I would not recommend it for that price. I have Academy H20 Mettle for $49 that are MUCH better quality and durability and have over-the-counter lifetime warranty. My Diawa Viento does not have any warranty. IN FACT- I will sell it to you at a discounted price!!!!
