Good idea!! Not to be critical, but only helpful from experience--you might change the bolts to carriage bolts and put the smooth head up so you don't tear up your rod handles. Where did your rings come from? Thanks for sharing and good luck!!

There welded all the way thru on the inside of the ring.

I can hear it now....sure wish I was protected my Monster Rod Holders ! Im all for saving money too but think about whats at stake to lose if it fails.

if a fish breaks a weld... well maybe it wasn't to be caught.....
