What is the trick to get that thing to stay put as you lower the new impellar down on to it...ive seen several methods... 1. put the key in place and lower the whole impellar housing down on it and press it down... 2. put ONLY the impellar on the shaft with the key then lower the housing down on it and turn the shaft to seat the impellar in the housing...1996 Johnson 88spl...
any insight or tricks much appreciated!!
Thanks!

I put the impeller on the shaft, then put the housing down over the impeller. A thin layer of grease/oil on the inside of the housing makes it somewhat easier.

Turn main shaft clockwise looking from the top of the main shaft while pushing down on the housing.
