I cannot speak for the rest of us, but for me, I go buffalo fishing and hunting. You will still catch a carp here and there, but the buffs are the bee's knees in winter.
PB Common Carp....... 38 lbs PB Mirror Carp........12 lbs 8 oz PB SM Buffalo........ 53 lbs PB Grasser........... 48 lbs 4 oz PB Blue cat.......... 17 lbs (caught on maize)

Buffalo become more active! I would recommend fishing the trinity river in Ft.Worth. Try to find a deep channel and I promise you that they will be there Use small baits, angle your rods to the side so you can use the rod tip to see when the fish are sucking on your hook-bait and then strike!

Buffalo have 1/4 inch more fat then carp, so they like the colder water better. Carp will bury themselfs in sand durring the cold seasons.

Carpstudies, I would love to see where you got that information. IMHO extra fat matters a lot more to warm blooded animals. It sure does to me.lol
I have never heard of carp burying themselves. Their genetics come from Europe, where it is much colder in the winter and cooler in the summer.

Let's see a pic of YOUR aqua vu, seems you have alot of info that can't be proven, I too have never heard of common carp burning themselves during winter months, but I do have many pics of carp caught in very cold weather
PB Common = 36-8 PB Buffalo = 62-8 PB Mirror (fully scaled) 13-0 PB Flat Head Catfish = 44

I didnt say they dont bite. And another thing, in Europe during winter months it gets so cold the carp must keep moving and eating otherwise they die. This is one of the main reasons why they r so big there.

During the colder months carp actually move and eat less, regardless if here or Europe, the reason they are soo big there is they are tended too like prize cattle, fed hnv food
