I'll be in SA this weekend and am wondering where the fishing is good down there. I'm not picky about what I catch or size of the lake or stream, just want to go out with my son-in-law and catch a few. If he has to work anybody else want to take me out someplace close ? I'll be close to where 410 and 10 intersect so give directions from there to any smaller bodies of water nearby please. Thanks David C.
4 out of 5 voices in my head say call in sick and go fishing !

If you want to go someplace a little closer, try Medina. From 410/I10 it is probably about 40 miles. The LMB are there, just not any of substantial size. What we have been pulling out are between 13 - 16 inches. Not a monster fish lake, but if you can find them, you can catch 10-15 a day. Take I10 west to 1604. 1604 to the left, not sure what direction that is but it is towards Sea World. You have to go under the bridge at 1604 and take the big turnaround to get on. Take that to the Culebra (471) exit. You'll see the Wal-Mart on your right. Turn right on Culebra, and follow it all the way to the lake. Red's cove has a launch, but it is not in the best condition, and I believe I heard the price to launch went up as well. Anyway, 471 turns into 1283 after the San Jaronimo creek. Take 1283 all the way to the Dancing Bear at the top of the hill, I'd say about 10-15 miles. Go left from there, and when you get to the houses and storage place, look for a blue/orange sign that says Red's Cove Marina. It's not the best ramp on the lake, but it is the only one we use, so it is the only one I know how to get to. Someone else might be able to tell you somewhere else. Like I said, they're not the biggest fish in Texas, but still fun to catch.

If you just trying to catch a few and don't have time to learn the area go to Fishermans Corner, at Canyon Lake, they have stocked ponds full of catfish....www.canyonlakefishing.com
