 97 efi 200 merc starts good idles good but at about 1/2 rpm to full rpm it surges

new filter;no water in fuel;new fuel lines;new plugs;use biobar;use merc premium plus oil;have noticed tac guage jumping alot;before starting after setting 2 -3 weeks have to cycle key two-three times and let efi pump run and cycle brfore starting and then it starts goog all day or weekend;no fuel or oil leaks any ideas

If you had fuel line degradation it is likly the screen on bottom of the electric pump is partialy stopped up. If you VST has the small brass plug at front bottom of the VST drain it in a quart jar to see if you have black sand their. 808504 1 1 STRAINER KIT, Fuel

Does tha surge raise tha rpm or drop tha rpm from what ever your crusin' at? Or is it a constant rhymthic surge at any rpm?

just drained gas/oil mix clear no grit or debris

any speed after 1/2 rpm and up just feels like it just cuts out or is missing on and off but doesnt get to full rpm

These are a coupla things that cause a "surge".....
Any type of fuel blockage, (usually filter and/or lines)
Fuel pressure, (regulator and/or pump, dirty vacume port)
Map sensor actin' stupid, (bad sensor, and/or dirty vacume port)
Injector problem, (one or more just dirty usually)

Check your fuel lines. Make shure the fuel line out of the manual fuel pump has not collapsed where it turns toward the filter or their under the flywheel. It can be fun to route the new fuel lines correctly.

Just a thought: You had mentioned that you had changed fuel lines,etc.... If you changed the bulb make sure it is facing the right direction........

merc shop at fork changed the lines and pump up bulb about3 mo. ago

merc shop at fork changed lines and bulb 3 mo. ago all has worked good till last 2 trips

I would get it in a tank or at the lake with a spark tester and see if it is dropping cylinders. If so which one or ones. Let us know. A timing light on the water is a good way to check spark while under load at various RPMs. Run it up until it starts acting up and see if still maintaining spark on each cylinder.
