I use a 7ft medium light action crankbait rod and it works really well. The light action helps cast lightweight and smaller jerkbaits for distance plus helps the fish stay hooked up better by the rod having some give to it which you need with 10lb line like I use on jerkbaits. Ron at Reel Time Rods has alot of options on rods like this so I would give him a call.

I use an All Star Classic Top water Special, I believe it's 6'6" and it was like $25 or $30 when I bought it at Academy.
It casts light line well and it's accurate as well as it has good action and the tip for smaller trebles.

How tall are you guys using a 7' rod? I'm just a about 5'10-5'11 and I'm always hitting the water on a down jerk. Thats why ive been debating a 6'6 to 6'8 rod.

I would get a 6-6 to 6-9ft rod for throwing jerk baits since you are working the bait with the tip down.
A buddy and I were fishing Squaw Creek way back when. We both were throwing the same husky jerk on the same size line. I had a med/light rod and he had a med. and he caught 2 to my 1 at least. The next week I used a med. action one and caught as many as he did. I think they wanted a harder snap of the bait and the med/light wasn't working as well as the med. action. Just something to think about. Since then I do not use a med.light action rod.

Megabass " one ten stick " was built for fishing 110 size jerk baits.. It is 6'4" however I like a 6'8" ... Med action is about where it's at w/ extra fast tip... I can build you a pretty sick lookin jerk bait rod exactly to your specs, and my rods flat out catch em' ask Dubose.. Lol

I sent Dobyns an email earlier this week in regards to deeper diving jerk baits and they recommend a 764cbrm...
