Anyone fish the canals around Las Colinas? I fish Jefferson Park on Meadow Creek just about everyday during my lunch break. I catch bass, bream, and crappie but the bass aren't bigger than 13". I've seen a few large bass swimming around but haven't been able to catch anything on normal sized lures. I had to scale down to an ultra light setup and 4lb test with 1/8oz rattletraps, 3" slug-gos, 2" grubs, and tiny brush hogs to actually catch fish. Anyone catch anything big out of these canals, they seem like the perfect environment for fish to grow big?

downsize even more to 1/16th or 1/32nd oz tube jigs and the numbers and quality of your bass will explode upwards! Monster crappie in the canals as well. Try night fishing. It is pure dynamite this time of yr, for bass, crappie and HUMONGOUS channels! All catchable on tube jigs! I have been doing it for over 20 yrs there. Love fishing in the canals at night this time of yr and catching monster crappie to Christmas Carols at the base of the skyscrapers.

Which part of the canals do u fish? Over by the horse statues?

Gentleman just FYI I work as a contractor for the city of Irving and those canals are OFF LIMITS! read the signs there is NO FISHING allowed! if you get caught they will write you a ticket and confiscate your tackle & rods. Has something to do with liability and the fact that if you fall in the only way to get out is by ladder and they are very few and far between. Someone actually drowned in the canals awhile back so the city banned any and all fishing in the canals......

The areas I fish DO NOT have "No Fishing" signs. I have seen "No Fishing" signs further up North than my regular spot but NOT where I go...

And Welcome. You can try any of the canals up and down McArthur close to the College. Jefferson Park and the McDonalds have been a hot spot just not right now cause of the rain...

You are correct, I was referring to Lake Caroline and the canals around the business district there. When he mentioned the mustangs I was under the impression he was referring to the canals & the lake. However, the canals that are inside the valley ranch parkway loop and along MacArthur are OFF LIMITS! my buddy lives there and he has been ticketed 3 times in the last two years!

It holds some nice ones.
